Curtain Call Theatre, beginning on January 23, 2015 at the clubhouse, will be offering a 5-week acting class taught by Derek Stearns. It will meet from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Friday evenings, and will be open to applicants aged 16 and up, CCT members and non-members.
We are extremely excited to be able to offer this unique opportunity to our members and others in the community who are interested in honing their acting skills. The class is open to all levels of experience, and will focus on scene study and/or monologues (material will be provided), using such tools as Relationships, Needs, Actions, the Moment Before, and Events, as well as the actor's instincts and how to work with them. If you don't want to actually get up there on stage, you can still take advantage of Derek's skills as an instructor by coming along to observe. What better way to kick off the new year? Defy the doldrums of winter!
Derek is a marvelous instructor. A member of SAG, AFTRA and AEA, he studied at Trinity Rep Conservatory, and has worked onstage with Trinity Rep, Lyric Stage, New Rep. Theatre, Speakeasy, along with many others. You may have seen Derek hosting "Rock Solid" or "Indoors Out" on DIY and HGTV. He studied with Karen Shepard and Michael Shurtleff, and has taught acting locally and nationally. Derek's resume
